 The material was reviewed and recommended for publication at the Scientific Council of the Center for Agrarian Economics of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (Order № 28 of 28.XI.2005).

 The paper investigates the theoretical principles, the most important means, factors and conditions that make up the material basis for the intensification and efficiency of livestock industries; directions and scope of factors, means and conditions of intensification, which are considered in conjunction with the natural and economic characteristics of the regions; analyzed the economic condition and reserves of fodder production; the attention of agricultural organizations and management structures is focused on the use of advanced technologies that ensure the production of high-quality feed; growth opportunities and reserves for increasing the productivity and efficiency of animal husbandry are shown in connection with the full feeding of livestock, the balance of feed with protein; the parameters of the cost of feed and, in general, material and monetary resources per head of livestock and unit of output, as well as the levels of remuneration of workers, at which sufficient payback of funds and resources is achieved; on the example of the dairy farm «Tarasovo» of the UE «Agrokombinat «Zhdanovichi», the efficiency of additional investments directed to the reconstruction and modernization of livestock farms and complexes, the creation of an intensive fodder base in accordance with the State Program for the revival and development of the village for 2005‒2010 is calculated.
