Contemporary issues in the development of the global food system are considered, highlighting the peculiarities of ensuring physical and economic access to food for the population in the context of quality of life and food safety. Promising trends in the formation of food markets are identified, and certain aspects of addressing the issues under consideration are presented, taking into account the development of processes of economic globalization and liberalization of trade in agro-industrial products.

The monitoring was conducted in accordance with the methodology, provisions, criteria, and indicators of the Concept of National Food Security approved by the resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated March 10, 2004, № 252, based on data from the National Statistical Committee and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, which determined the level of food security, justified trends, development prospects, and balance of food markets, identified their characteristics as subjects of the common agricultural market of regional integration formations of the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Union, established potential threats, factors determining their manifestation, and defined measures to prevent and overcome them.

The work is intended for management bodies at all levels, scientific researchers, teachers of higher educational institutions, postgraduates, master's students, and undergraduates.
